End Splits

Jump to navigation Jump to search

End splits are cracks that occur at the ends of the wood. They typically start at the end of the board and extend inward, following the grain of the wood. End splits can occur as a result of stresses in the wood caused by uneven drying or changes in temperature and humidity.

End splits can weaken the structural integrity of the wood and make it more prone to breaking or splitting further.
